videos i recommend to watch:
farm to fridge - by far the most disturbing short film i have watch so far. i cried the entire time i watched this. i heart broke, and after i watched this i decided to start eating cruelty free animal protein and by products. i had already been purchasing my meat from locally sourced venues, and buying from my farmer's market, but this made me realize even organic chicken or beef animals are still not treated kindly. it was not until i did further research did i decide to become a full vegan. i only share this because this was what changed my mind and heart about how we treat commercially raised animals. i am sure not every farm is like this, but i can bet that the majority is like this.
fat, sick, and nearly dead - this is a quirky documentary about a man's journey to discover how to heal himself. it is quite entertaining. watch this with the kids too! you can apply this to your life by substituting one meal a day with juicing, or you can go full throttle and challenge yourself to the full on juicing fast. as always, know your body, listen to it, and value what it is saying.
forks over knives - a bit more of a clinical documentary. its interviews with doctors explaining the more technical aspects of eating animal based protein versus plant based protein. this is the movie that helped solidify my decision to be a vegan rather than just eating cruelty-free animal protein. one of the key elements i took from this movie is that a lentil has 26g of protein in 100g and grass-fed beef only has 19g in 100g. the old adage that beef or even animal protein is best is untrue.
hungry for change - one of my favorite documentaries. packed with interviews about what our big box food chains are putting into our processed foods. another reason to eat raw, whole foods, and stop eating processed foods. it is not an easy thing especially when you are a busy person, but i think making small changes here and there will start to add up.
vegucated - this is a light hearted documentary of a women living in New York. she was raised like most of us, and is now a vegan. she posed the challenge to three other people in her community to take on becoming a vegan. she raises a great point that we live in a society where food (specifically plant-based) is plentiful for us and that we do not need to live off animal protein like other cultures do where plants aren't able to survive the climates. there is simply not one good reason why animals need to be killed anymore in our society. it's just become a custom to, and as we all know, humans are creatures of habit.
vanishing of the bees - oh beautiful bees! don't go! this is a real wake-up call for anyone who likes any fruits or vegetables. bees are dying off because of all the pesticides farms are using to protect their monocrops all the while causing disease for our little friends. i plan on planting more flowers around our house next spring and also looking into starting my own colony. here's a website of other helpful things you can do.
chemerical - this documentary got a bit boring to me, however it was full of good information. i will make my own laundry detergent soon. this is also made me want to buy makeup that is made without harmful chemicals. after my current product i use i will go hunting for better alternatives to my regime.
milk - a non-biased documentary on the juxtaposition of dairy farmers to medical doctors. i found this to be one of the shorter, more informative documentaries to reference. if solidified my reasoning to stop intaking dairy even more than before.
earthlings - i have not watched this yet but just saw an interview done by katie curic to ellen degeneres about why ellen is now a vegan. ellen said she went vegetarian after ready skinny bitch, but it was not until after watching this movie did she fully commit to not eating our friends.
